Eine 39-jährige und ein 46-jähriger Hausbewohner wurden leicht verletzt. Alle anderen Bewohner konnten das Haus unverletzt verlassen. Der Sachschaden beläuft sich auf ca. 200.000 Euro.

Am Samstag, den 2. May 2009 gegen 12.00 Uhr in Frechen (Deutschland) sind drei kleine Kinder, ein erst drei Monate altes Zwillingspaar und ein zweieinhalbjähriges Mädchen, zu Tode gekommen und neun weitere Menschen verletzt wurden. Bei den Toten handelt es sich um Kleinkinder einer chinesischen Familie, die im gleichen Gebäudetrakt ein Restaurant betreibt. Wie der „Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger“ erfuhr, soll das Kindermädchen am Samstagvormittag gegen 11.30 Uhr mit zwei der drei Kinder aus der Wohnung ins Restaurant gegangen sein. Einer der Zwillinge habe in der Wohnung geschlafen. Als alle drei eine halbe Stunde später zurückkehrten, soll es im Flur der Wohnung bereits gebrannt haben. Vermutlich hatten sich die Flammen noch nicht so stark ausgebreitet, so dass die Frau mit den Kindern in die Wohnung gegangen sein und die Kleinen auf die Betten gelegt haben könnte. Mit einer Matratze wollte sie offenbar die Flammen löschen, die wahrscheinlich im Bereich eines kleinen Flur schrankes ausgebrochen waren. Wahrscheindlich war der Matratze beim Flamen ausgezündelt. Die Flammen müssen sich rasend schnell ausgebreitet haben. Anhand der Spuren sollen sie bis unter die Decke geschlagen sein und den Fluchtweg nach draußen versperrt haben. Dennoch sei das Kindermädchen durch die Flammen gelaufen, um im Restaurant Hilfe zu holen. Die Kinder blieben offenbar in der Wohnung. Als kurze Zeit später Helfer zur Stelle waren, stand bereits der Etagenflur in Flammen. Obwohl die Feuerwehr schnell zur Stelle war, weil sie wenige Hundert Meter entfernt stationiert ist, konnte das Leben der Kinder nicht mehr gerettet werden. Weitere Erkenntnisse erhoffen sich die Ermittler von der Frau, die noch im Koma liegt. Die eigentliche Brandursache ist noch unklar. Vieles deute auf einen elektrischen Defekt hin. Im Flur sollen mehrere Küchengeräte gestanden haben, hieß es.

On Sunday the 19th of April 2009, shortly after 6pm a faulty washing machine did start a fire in a house of Southampton, UK. Fire quickly spread from the overheating appliance. Dishwasher catches fire in Torquay, UK - No injury

A Dishwasher was destroyed when it caught fire in a ground floor flat in Torquay. Four firefighters wearing breathing gear used a hosereel to extinguish the blazing appliance at Lummaton Cross. Three crews attended the incident after the alarm was raised at 11.30am Tuesday the 14th of April 2009. A thermal imaging camera was used to make sure there were no lingering hot-spots.A positive pressure ventilation unit was used to clear the smoke-logged flat of fumes. No one was hurt, but the flat experienced serious damages.
