Faulty washing machine starts flat blaze, in Southampton, UK - 0 injured

On Sunday the 19th of April 2009, shortly after 6pm a faulty washing machine did start a fire in a house of Southampton, UK. Fire quickly spread from the overheating appliance. The woman occupier, believed to be in her 30s, smelled smoke and called rescue services, and firefighters wearing breathing apparatus were able to lead her to safety. The whole three-storey block of flats on Tremona Court, off Tremona Road, was evacuated. The property, on the top floor of the building, was left damaged by the effects of flames and smoke. There was no injury.
