Electric heater causes a deadly home fire in Llwyngwril, Gwynedd, UK - 1 dead

A 60 year old man who was dragged from his burning bungalow by members of the public, after finding him on the kitchen floor of the semi-detached property at Llwyngwril in Gwynedd, UK, has died on Tuesday the 17th of March 2009 before the arrival of the rescue services. Fire officers said the likeliest cause of the blaze, which is not suspicious, was a portable electric heater. "In addition we have reason to believe the casualty had been drinking and there was no working smoke alarm at the property which could have alerted him and saved his life" senior fire safety manager Richard Fairhead said.
