TV set catches fire, in Keighley, UK - 2 injured

A mother and her teenage daughter were lucky to escape unscathed when a television in an attic bedroom caught fire as they slept on Saturday night 28th March 2009 in Nightingale Street, Keighley,UK. The two women were woken by the sound of burning after flames erupted from the TV set which had been left on overnight. They were taken to hospital suffering from the effects of smoke inhalation. Keighley firefighter Warren Ellison said “a smoke detector should always be installed near any bedroom. He added that it was also important to turn TV sets off completely and not just leave them on standby overnight."
