Tumble dryer starts a fire in a hotel, in Lincolnshire, UK - Healing Manor - 0 harmed

Staff at Healing Manor have been told they are “lucky” a fire which broke out in the hotel was not far worse. Humberside Fire and Rescue were called to the hotel at 9am on wednesday the 11th of March 2009 to tackle a fire in the upstairs laundry room at the venue. The blaze started in a tumble dryer and spread to a washing machine. Water spilling from a ruptured pipe was turned into steam and put out the flames. “There was very little in the room which could have caught fire. There was just the tumble dryer and washing machine – nothing else.
“If there had been, the fire would have spread very quickly” the fire marshall said. Robbie Marklew, manager of the venue, said: “A fire like this is a bit soul destroying after putting in all the work we have put in.”
